One of the UK’s leading training providers to the implant dentistry sector has launched a course specifically designed to teach lab technicians how to carry out simple crown and bridge work for Dentale successfully ran its first one-day “Introduction to Implants for Lab Technicians” course at its dedicated Shrewsbury clinic on Saturday 12th April 2014.
The course, headed up by Steve Dunn RDT, a successful laboratory owner and lab technician for nearly 30 years, combined both theoretical knowledge and practical demonstrations, sharing the vast amount of hands-on skills and personal hints and tips to help achieve success that he has acquired throughout his career.
The course provided participants, some of whom had travelled from as far as London and Cardiff, with the knowledge required to confidently assess cases and correctly identify and handle components in order to produce crown and bridge work for implants.
Using the Implantium system the course incorporated impression methods, soft tissue modelling and model pouring techniques, assessment of cast models – gingival depth, emergence profiles and soft tissue adjustment, abutment selection and milling, fabrication of pattern resin for coping and replacement jig and Debbie Snelson, Manager of Dentale said:
“Our new course is hugely beneficial for qualified or student dental technicians with little or no previous experience of implantology. We are training more and more dentists on how to place implants and we recognise the need to ensure dental technicians are equally competent to support the restorative process. The invaluable skills obtained on this course will ensure dental technicians can further enhance the service they offer to existing and new clients – and increase their income!”.
“The one-day course allows dental technicians to gain 5 hours verifiable CPD, plus they get to take away a sample of work that they produce during the course. The first course was really popular and sold out quickly. And every delegate who attended agreed that the course met their overall expectations on the day, was good value for money and would recommend the course to a colleague”.
“We are planning more dates for 2014, so I’d urge any dental technician who is interested in finding out further information or securing a place on our next course to get in touch by calling our Course Bookings Team on 0845 0176 263 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.”
